Description

Prehnite, discovered in 1788 by Dutch colonel and mineralogist Von Prehn in South Africa, is named after him. This marked a historic milestone in mineralogy as it was the first mineral named after a person. Due to its discovery at the Cape of Good Hope, it's also known as "Cape Emerald." 

The most striking feature of prehnite is its soft yellow-green color, reminiscent of fresh apple green. Since its discovery, it has been considered rarer than quartz, with limited mining areas and small deposits, making it potentially scarce. If you're drawn to its refreshing yellow-green hue, it might be a good idea to add it to your collection.
